Digital Works

Photography has always fascinated Shankar. Even though he had participated in some national and international competitions and exhibitions, his photographs never got much exposure compared to his paintings. But the revolutionary advancement of the digital medium in the last few years had obviously opened a new area on his artistic pursuit; getting digitally composed photographic images printed on archival canvas and paper. When we zoom or super-zoom to extreme close-ups, even realistic images offer a lot of abstract expression special with use of natural yet dramatic light condition. Shankar's digital art series started off with digitally printed canvases that were artistically manipulated with painting medium for the final expression but later they became more and more of photo montages with a single or multitude of photographic images juxtaposed in a single frame.
